Painting company website examples

The good ones are just galleries with better structure

Almost every painting website is trying to be a portfolio. The difference between the ones that get quote requests and the ones that do not is how the work is organised, not how it is photographed.

One gallery, forty photos

Impressive, and invisible in search

Same photos, different structure

A gallery of forty rooms competes for one search

Most painting sites put every finished job into a single gallery page. It looks impressive and it means the entire portfolio is competing for one term. The same forty rooms as forty pages, each named by job type and suburb, competes for forty.

Structure beats volume in this trade

You finish fewer jobs than most trades, so how each one is organised matters more. Drag the slider to your weekly volume and see the year.

Four things to check on a painting example

These tell you more about whether the site produces quote requests than any judgement about how it looks.

Start your 14-day trial

Is the work split by job type?

Interior, exterior, cabinets, decks, commercial. Cabinet painting alone is a substantial search that most painting sites bury inside a general gallery.

Are there close-ups?

Wide shots of finished rooms all look similar. Cut lines, edges and trim are where a customer sees the difference between careful work and quick work.

Is prep explained anywhere?

It is most of the labour and most of the price, and almost no painting website explains it. The ones that do are competing on something other than the quote.

Is anything dated?

A portfolio with no dates could be five years old. For a trade where the decision takes weeks, evidence of current activity matters.

Restructuring what you already have

If you have a gallery of past work, the photos are fine. It is the arrangement that is costing you.

1

Take one job from the gallery

Any finished room you already photographed.

2

Give it its own page

Job type, suburb, and a close-up alongside the wide shot.

3

Repeat as you work

New jobs land as pages instead of tiles.

What painters look for in examples

Three reasons for browsing, and which one changes anything.

How to present a portfolio

The right instinct, slightly misdirected. The presentation question that matters is not how the gallery looks but whether each job can be found on its own, which is invisible when you are browsing.

How competitors position on price

Worth studying. Some painting sites signal premium through the work shown, others compete openly on cost. Knowing which your local competitors are doing tells you where the gap is.

Whether their own site is good enough

The honest answer for most painters is that the photos are fine and the structure is not. Nearly everyone has a gallery and nearly nobody has pages.

Same photos, forty times the reach

You do not need better work or better photography. You need each job to have somewhere of its own to live.

Frequently asked questions

Can I see a painting business using this?

Yes, in the examples section, with the individual job pages rather than just the homepage. The job pages are the ones that appear in search.

Can I move my existing gallery across?

Yes. Post the jobs individually rather than as a batch, because that is what gives each one a page and a search to answer rather than another tile in a grid.

How many jobs before it looks credible?

Around fifteen, which at two jobs a week is roughly two months. Painting builds more slowly than high-volume trades and each page carries more weight.

Should exterior and interior be separated?

Yes. They are different customers searching in different seasons with different budgets, and keeping them apart lets each compete properly.

What do the bigger painting franchises do differently?

They spend on advertising and have brand recognition. What they usually cannot show is the specific crew that will be in the house, which is what a homeowner actually worries about with a week-long job.
