Website for auto detailers

You are already making content. You just do not own any of it

Detailers post more than almost any trade, and nearly all of it lives on platforms that delete it from view within a day. Post the same work to a site you own and it keeps bringing cars in.

Full interior, 2019 Tahoe

Still getting found next spring

Very different shelf life

Two years of work, none of it findable

Scroll back through your Instagram and there are hundreds of finished cars. Every one was worth showing and not one of them can be found by somebody searching for a detailer in your area tonight. The work was never the problem. Where it went was.

Every car is a page you are giving away

You photograph every single one. Posting it to a site you own costs the same thirty seconds and the result does not disappear. Drag the slider to how many cars you finish a week.

Why detailing struggles online despite great content

No trade produces better material and few convert less of it into work. Three reasons for the gap.

Social rewards reach, not intent

A reel with fifty thousand views mostly reached people in other states who will never book you. A page ranking for an interior detail in your suburb reaches ten people who all might.

The service tiers are separate searches

Interior detail, paint correction, ceramic coating and headlight restoration are different jobs at wildly different prices. One page covering them all competes for none of them properly.

The vehicle matters to the customer

Someone with a truck wants to see a truck. Someone with a black car wants to see a black car, because they know it shows everything. Specific vehicles in posts do work that general claims cannot.

Posting once instead of twice

Nothing changes about what you photograph. The only difference is that it lands somewhere permanent as well as somewhere temporary.

1

Shoot the finished car

The same shot you were taking for socials.

2

Post it here first

Vehicle, service, suburb. “Full interior, Tahoe, Spring.”

3

It goes out to social too

Same post, but now one copy of it is yours permanently.

What detailers ask

Three that come up most, including the one about whether a website is even necessary any more.

My Instagram is my website

It is doing a lot of work and you should keep it. What it cannot do is turn up when somebody types a service and a suburb into Google, which is how customers who do not already follow you find a detailer. The two do different jobs.

I book out from referrals anyway

Then this is about margin rather than volume. A visible portfolio of high-end work is how detailers move from interior cleans to correction and coating jobs, because the customer can see the standard before they commit to the price.

All my cars look the same after

To you. To a customer with a specific vehicle and a specific problem, a black sedan with swirl marks removed and a truck interior brought back are completely different pieces of evidence.

Keep a copy of your own work

You have produced years of excellent material. Start keeping some of it somewhere you control.

Frequently asked questions

Can I post to my site and Instagram at the same time?

Yes, that is the intended workflow. Post the job once and it goes to your connected social accounts as well, so nothing changes about your routine except that one copy stays permanently findable.

Should I post every car or only the impressive ones?

Post most of them. Social rewards highlights, search rewards volume and specificity. A run of ordinary interior cleans across different suburbs is worth more in search than three spectacular builds.

What about customer number plates and personal items?

Frame them out or blur them. Most detailers already do this out of habit, and a photo of a finished interior rarely needs to show a plate anyway.

Does this help with ceramic coating enquiries specifically?

It is where it helps most. Coating is a high-consideration purchase and customers research heavily before committing. Pages showing coated vehicles, with the process and the vehicle named, do work that a social post cannot.

I am mobile rather than a shop. Does that change anything?

It changes what you emphasise, since coverage and convenience matter more than premises. There is a separate page on mobile detailing that goes into it properly.
